AUTISM FOUND IN WOMB

Today’s news is filled with a story that points to autism’s development in the womb.

It gives us reason to believe the fundamental source of autism can be tracked back before vaccinations, before birth. There is evidence found in prenatal brain development.

That’s not to say there are not environmental impacts. There may be factors at play in the world around us that help to explain the explosion in autism numbers. But it also helps us point to the importance of early intervention. Helping a child overcome these challenges while the brain is still most elastic – most pliable – is still hope for families.

On a follow up note, think of the incredible gift the families have made when they offered up their child for this important research. I can’t imagine how difficult this must have been.
