Taylor Wells, Adult Community Services Program Coordinator, along with staff, accompanied 11 persons served to Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine last weekend. Our gang looked mighty spiffy in their dresses and Sunday best. Together they all had a great evening. The best part? Getting crowned kings and queens during the evening.
Night to Shine, an unforgettable prom night experience, is an elaborate evening for people with special needs and is held simultaneously around the globe on the Friday before Valentine’s Day every year. It’s not just a prom, it’s a celebration! And, it’s an invitation into a community that values, honors, and celebrates people with special needs and their families.
Every honored guest enters this complimentary event on a red carpet complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi. Once inside, guests receive the royal treatment, including hair and makeup stations, shoe-shining stations, limousine rides, corsages and boutonnieres, a catered dinner, karaoke, gifts, a Respite Room for parents and caregivers, and, of course, dancing! The evening concludes with a crowning moment where every single honored guest is crowned and receives a crown or tiara! (That was the favorite part for our group!)
